Margaret Abar was the daughter of Charles and Anna Barr LeBeau, and was born July 25, 1925, in Ogdensburg. S graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1943 and Ogdensburg Business school in 1944. She married Richard Abar in 1949, but the marriage ended in divorce.
She was a member of American Legion Post 69 Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Notre Dame Church, where she served as an Eucharistic minister and was a member of the choir and the Legion of Mary. She was also a member of the DAR and was a volunteer at United Helpers Adult Home and United Helpers Nursing Homes.
Surviving were a son and daughter, a brother and sister, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A son, Richard, died before her.
