He retired from the United States Air Force in 1967.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Margie Summers; father, Theodore Alvis; twin brother, Wesley Alvis; sister Ada Ealy; grandson, John Tarpinian; son-in-law Johnny Martinez.
He leaves behind his wife, of 59 years, Delores Alvis of Fresno; four daughters, Charline Dervishian and her husband John, Gloria Martinez, Kathy Loya and Lynda Martin all of Fresno; sisters Leona Miner of Oakley, Ca., Lorraine Coffey of Winton and Roberta Townsend of Oregon; grandchildren, Mindy Tarpinian, Paul Muller, Michael Martinez, Katrina Loya Garrett and her husband David, and Kailey Burnett all of Fresno; eight great-grandchildren; and many extended family, friends and neighbors.
Our deepest appreciation to the staff in the I.C.U. Unit at Veterans Hospital, especially to Keith and Stan who helped our father.
Private family services will be held.
