On December 16, 1972, Jim was sworn in as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. During his 21 year military career, Jim served as an infantry officer and then a military intelligence officer. Jim served as a range officer at Fort Devon, MA, and the G-2 in the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. A highlight of Jim's army career was being stationed in Germany for three years. Jim was an instructor at the Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, KS, and earned his Master of Military Art and Science at Fort Leavenworth. Jim attended the Joint Space Fundamental Course and then his final assignment in the Army was at the Pentagon. During his time of service to his country, Jim was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Over-Seas Service Ribbon, and Air Assault Badge.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Kenneth Adams, and his brother Stephen Adams.
