Campbell _ Carl (Bud) Norman

Carl was born on December 11, 1926 at Hanna, Alberta to Angus and Marie and passed away in Calgary on January 23, 2001. The family moved to the Rowley area where he attended elementary school and helped out on the family farm. Bud loved to work alongside his dad on the land and was a well known face at the many community dances with his younger sister Frances. In 1944 he joined the army, did his basic training in Wetaskiwin but never saw duty overseas. The war ended before being shipped out and he returned to Drumheller where he continued with the Militia. Bud was employed as a miner in Nacmine, working alongside his father and brother. Bud re-enlisted in the service in 1950, and was part of the advanced force, 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI), serving in Korea. He returned home late 1951 where he apprenticed in his chosen profession of auto body mechanic, ultimately becoming self employed and owning Super Auto Body until retirement in 1980. When approached by the Corps of Commissionaires in 1985, he accepted a position at the Tyrrell Museum, continuing with them until 1997. Bud married Barbara (Wilton) on August 27, 1955, enjoying 45 years of wedded bliss. Bud's passions in life were his family, gardening and reading. He was predeceased by his father Angus and mother Marie; two infant children, Charlotte and William; one brother Leslie; one sister Joan Fairfield; and his father-in-law Bill Wilton. Bud will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial Service was held on Saturday, January 27, 2001 at the Drumheller Inn with Pastor Wayne McCrackin officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Drumheller Ambulance Society, Box 4500, Drumheller, AB, TOJ OYO
