George constructed the original sleigh in the 1960s, used by the Great Yarmouth Lions club to raise funds for good causes for many decades.
He was a carpenter by trade but ran the Ravenswood Hotel on Nelson Road South, Great Yarmouth, for 20 years. On his retirement, Ravenswood was taken over by his elder daughter and son-in-law.
George died at James Paget Hospital, Gorleston, Great Yarmouth.
George was named after his maternal grandfather, George Shreeve.
