DONALD ROBERT BURKLEW

Donald Robert Burklew, 81, of King George, VA, died peacefully in his sleep on December 6, 2020 at his home on 7222 Kitchen Drive. Donald was born in Saint Petersburg, FL to Robert and Ethel on April 3, 1939. He married Barbara Evelyn Underwood on September 1, 1962. He attended St. Pete High School '48, University of Florida '62, University of California '64 and George Washington University '75 to obtain multiple degrees including BA inMath and Masters in Systems Engineering. He built a fantastic career spanning almost 50 years which included his role as President at Operations Research, Inc. and ManTech International, Inc and Chairman of the Board at American Systems Corporation. He was an extremely well respected member of the Defense Contracting community in the Washington area and took very good care of all who had the pleasure of working with him. He also volunteered for service as a Conditional Appointed Civil Servant supporting the 7th Air Force ('68-'70) in Vietnam. Donald is survived by his wife Barbara; son Greg, sister Marcia; and grandchildren Donald, Fallon and Alexandra who all love him very much and miss him dearly. "Boss", as he was known, was a man of unlimited love, authenticity and joy and leaves behind a multitude of friends who adore him. To know this incredible man was to love him and his generosity knew no bounds. Respecting his wishes, no funeral services will be held but a celebration of his life will take place when it is once again safe to travel and congregate. Memorials may be sent to support the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org [alz.org])
