Gilligan Funeral Home -- Burial Saturday June 17 2023 ******Robert (Bob) Malloy Jr, Esquire is survived by his former wife, Teresa Malloy, and their children, Charles (Catie) Malloy, Audrey Malloy and their grandchildren, Julia, Ellie and Charles Malloy. Robert passed away on Sunday, June 11 at the age of 79. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 25, 1943. His family relocated to Cincinnati for his father's baseball career as a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds. Here Robert attended and graduated from Woodward HS, earning a scholarship in gymnastics to attend the University of Cincinnati. At UC he received a BA degree with high honors in Psychology and was part of the ROTC program. Afterwards, he served our country with exemplary service as a Captain in the US Air Force at Westover AFB in Massachusetts from 1966 – 1971.
At the completion of his service, he attended and received his law degree from the University of Cincinnati, serving as editor of its Law Review. He began his practice in 1974 and was an attorney and Partner until his retirement at the Law firm of Wood and Lamping in Cincinnati for over 40 years as well as being the solicitor for Terrace Park and Law Director for both Madeira and Symmes Township. He was noted as a top attorney in Ohio by Cincinnati Magazine 2006 – 2014, received Martin-Hubbell highest peer rating of preeminent and was one of the top lawyers in Land Use and Zoning for the past 20 years. Besides practicing law, he enjoyed playing tennis, photography, travel and nature. He will be dearly missed my all for his kind, caring ways and his love of story telling and his great sense of humor.
He is also survived by four sisters, Jeanne (Charles) Akins, Christine (James) Chipps, Susan (Kenneth) Malloy-Anstaett, Jackie (Tom) Flynn and two brothers, John (Erin) Malloy, Dwight (Sandy) Malloy and many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation followed by a brief Memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 17th, from 9-11 am at Gilligan's Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road. Family and friends are invited afterwards to join the procession to the Gate of Heaven Cemetery for a Commemoration and Military Honor Guard Salute.
