Lucille (Toots) Cary was born March 13, 1927 in Bruce, SD to Bernhard and Martha Kleen. She grew up with eight siblings. After graduation, she received a teaching certificate and taught country school until getting married to William (Bill) Cary on June 3, 1954 at St. Paul's Church in Bertha, MN. They had a daughter, Debra. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, and the outdoors.
After Bill passed away in 1981, Lucille moved to Fergus Falls, MN to be closer to her daughter. There she enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up. She remarried and enjoyed living next to her daughter. She loved spending time with family and was always up for a visit. She had many friends, including wonderful neighbors. As her daughter started spending more time in Arizona, she once again moved to be with her. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 94, on December 29, 2021.
Her husband, Bill, preceded her in death. She leaves behind one daughter, Debra (Stanley) Nelson, 3 grandchildren: Bill (Brittany) Nelson, Jenny (Matt) Skjeret, and Greg Nelson and 10 great-grandchildren.
Lucille also has 3 surviving sisters; Marianne, Marilyn and Kathy.
