Evelyn G. (Subra) Baldus, age 80, died Friday, June 30, at the Madrid Home.
Evelyn G. (Subra) Baldus was born in rural Austin, MN on June 28, 1926. Her parents were Earl and Vanieta (Gilliland) Subra. Evelyn graduated from Austin Minnesota High School in 1941. Evelyn married Everett Baldus in 1946 and they had two children; Dianne Bierl of Ankeny and Larry Baldus of Lake Ozark, MO.
She was a homemaker and supported her husband Everett while he was employed as a livestock buyer for the George A. Hormel Co. for 35 years at Austin and Edgerton, MN and Algona, Fort Dodge and Eldora, IA. She loved to care for her pet cats and was a friend of all stray animals. Evelyn was a member of Our Ladies of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Everett Baldus; her parents, Earl Subra and Vanieta Leek; and grandson, Douglas Bierl. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Russell Bierl of Ankeny; and son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Laurie Baldus of Lake Ozark, MO; brothers, Dick Subra of Kansas City, MO and Bob Subra of Austin, MN; sister, Jean & Chuck Jensen of Newton, IA; five grandchildren, Rachelle Hinrichs, Mitchell Bierl, Ross Bierl, Pam McColley and Steven Johnson; as well as three great-grandchildren.
