On August 23, 1941, almost nine months to the day after Edwin Alonzo Boyd Sr. and his wife Doreen Mary Frances Thompson married, she gave birth to a son, Edwin Alonzo Boyd, Jr. The baby was two days old when air raid sirens rang out. A nurse had dropped the infant and the child died from cerebral hemorrhage. Edwin Alonzo Boyd Jr. remains were buried in York cemetery. He had three siblings, "Billy", Carolyn and Robin.
Juniors father, Edwin became a notorious bank robber and he and Doreen divorced. Edwin served time in prison and when released was given a new identity and sent to British Columbia where he spent the remainder of his life actively engaged in charity work. He was even honored as citizen of the year and in BC no one knew of his past. He later remarried.
