Ellen "Loretta" DeWitt, age 71, of Windfall, passed away at her residence with her family by her side on Sunday, December 25, 2022.
Ellen was born in Jonesboro, AR on October 8, 1951, to the late Robert and Ellen (Holder) Carr. On January 5, 1968, she married Billy W. DeWitt and they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage together.
Ellen held several working jobs throughout her years that included working at RCA, Carters Supermarket in Tipton, and Gas America in Elwood. She also enjoyed doing genealogy work. Ellen loved traveling and was fortunate enough to spend nine years traveling on the road with her husband Bill. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and bird watching; Ellen had a special talent of being able to make the Cardinals sing when they would land close by. Those who knew Ellen also knew that family was the most important thing to her heart, and she cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ellen is survived by her mother, Ellen Deen (Holder) Gentry; husband, Billy W. DeWitt of Windfall; daughter, three grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren, three sisters, a brother, and several nieces & nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Robert A. Carr and son, Larry W. DeWitt.
Burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery in Windfall, IN.
