Chaur Ching Chen, "Charlie," 88, of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Charlie studied education at the National Taiwan Teacher's University before moving to the United States in 1964 to attend the University of Minnesota. While at the University, he received his PhD in Educational Psychology and met his wife of 54 years, Liang Jyu.

Upon moving to New Jersey in 1970, Charlie was employed with Educational Testing Services for 11 years as a Statistical Analyst. He later founded Oriental Teak where he and his wife served the Hamilton community for many years before moving the business to Rocky Hill in 1994 and ultimately retiring in 2005. Charlie loved to fish and tend to his vegetable garden in his yard. He enjoyed taking vacation cruises with his wife and especially loved traveling to see his family in Taiwan.

Predeceased by his parents, Ah-shang and Marn (Wu) Chen; he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Liang Jyu Chen of Hamilton; his sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Yeen-Shi Chen of Vancouver, BC, Canada and Kevin and Alverina Chen of Oakland, CA; his sister, Sue Yeun Su and brother-in-law, Dong Po Ho, both of Taipei, Taiwan; his granddaughter, Chloe Chen of Vancouver, BC, Canada; and his several nieces, nephews and loving family members.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.

There will be no visitation hours.
