Norma Jean (Nitz) Adams went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 7:35 a.m.. She was born July 13, 1933 to Oliver and Florence (Shull) Nitz in Soldier, Kansas. The family later moved to the Troy, Kansas area where she was raised.

After graduating from Ottawa University in 1955, she married her husband on June 6, 1955 and they had two children.

Norma Jean taught elementary school for 28 years. She retired in 1996 from the Olathe School District. She also taught in Paola, Kansas; Hiawatha, Kansas; Fairview, Kansas, and Senegal, West Africa.

Norma Jean was a faithful Christian wife, mother and devoted grandma who glorified God through her love and service for others. In addition to the many lives she influenced through the public school system, she also taught missionary children, Sunday School classes and Child Evangelism Fellow Bible clubs. She was an "adopted grandma" to many. She was an active member of Overland Park Baptist, and attended Bible Study Fellowship International for many years. She, along with her husband, also served for over 17 years as a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

Survivors include her husband, a son and a daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her brother, Jim Nitz of Naples, FL.
