Lady was named, in part, for the graceful way she carried herself. She was a litter mate/sister of Oreo, who was also adopted by the Steele family in the spring of 2008. Oreo went missing the next year, but Lady was close to her humans, especially Steve, the father of the family. She became his regular companion, following him almost everywhere. When he passed away after few days' illness, in November 2009, she was confused and kept looking for him the next week or two, but eventually accepted that he was not there anymore. ☹ The next spring she was on a patrol of the area and was apparently hit by a car. When she was buried, she was wrapped in one of the jumpsuits that Steve had often worn.
