ROBERT E. KIRBY, 87 ROCKFORD - Robert E. Kirby, 87, of Rockford died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, in Swedish American Hospital. Born June 30, 1919, in Rockford, the son of Robert and Jane (McGee) Kirby. Robert proudly served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. Retired from Rockford Drop Forge with more than 25 years of employment. Survivors include daughter, Roberta Lambiotte; son, Robert E. (Lauren) Kirby; special friend and companion, Lorraine Thompson; friends at the Sixth Street Golden Agers; and beloved dog, Buddy. Predeceased by parents; wife, Norma; and son, Tom . Service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, with visitation from 1 p.m. to time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends and family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sixth Street Golden Agers.
