Actress. She will be best remembered for playing the role of 'Izabela' in the operetta, "Goodnight, Mr. Pantalon!" in which she first appeared in 1852. She was born as Wiktoryna Józefa Szymanowska in Warsaw, Poland, to Wojciech Szymanowski and his wife Joanna Meissner Szymanowski on October 17, 1835. She studied singing with JTS Jasinki and J. Quattrini. Besides, playing the role of 'Izabela' in the operetta, "Goodnight, Mr. Pantalon!" she also appeared as 'Sofia' in "The First Better." Her other works include, "The Countess," "Fire In The Monastery," "Maiden Vows," "Montjoye," "The Art Of Pleasing," "Maria Stuart," "The Marriage of Figaro," "Circular", "March Bachelor," "Positive," and "Safanduły." It was said that she was usually paid up to ten rubles for each of her performances. She passed away in Warsaw, Poland, on October 30, 1874, thirteen days after her 39th birthday. She was buried in the Cmentarz Powązkowski aka the Powazki Cemetery in Warsaw, Poland. She was married to the painter Władysław Bakałowicz (1831-1904), with whom she had had a son Stefan Bakałowicz (1857-1947), who was also a painter.
