"There's a lot I don't know about my father's early life. From what I know, he was born on the Babb family farm in Platte County. His father, Bernard Lewis Babb, was in his early 50s while his mother, Eva May Nichols, was 35. His father died when he was 12 and 2 years later then moved to Colorado Springs. Later they moved to the country side of Colorado where he developed a love for hiking and mountain climbing. He would also find his love for spelunking, and while there he met the love of his life, my mom. Her named was Hazel Frost, and he was absolutely head over heels with her. And luckily for dad, she did too.

Mom and Dad would marry on September 12, 1965. Together they would have four children; Denise, Marcus, Lou, and Jennie. The third child, Lou, was named after Ralph's older sister, Louise, who died in a car accident. Dad adored each of us, every camping, hiking, and spelunking trip he would take us. Due to this, all of us grew up to have a love for nature. As he got older, dad enjoyed fishing and reading. But he loved spending time with his grandchildren, and his wife. Dad and Mom were inseparable, always being by each other's side. Even when mom had her stroke.

As mom's health declined, he was always by her side. Never leaving her. And so he was there when mom took her last breath and that day, a piece of him died. After her death dad put photos all over the walls. He put on a smile when the grandchildren visit, but after they left he would always cry. Mom was truly the love of his life, and missed her every day. Dad's cancer diagnosis came unexpectedly. He never smoked, was never near any life threatening chemicals, none of his family had died of cancer, he had just "lost the lottery". He fought that cancer hard and with a smile. But after 8 years, the cancer became stronger and he was getting weaker. When asked how he was doing, he said "I'm happy, I'll finally see my Hazel again". A few hours after that, he finally passed away.

My dad is extremely loved and missed."
