Professional Footballer. Nicknamed 'The Baron' or 'Baronen,' he played at the position of Striker (or Forward) for a number of notable Danish, Belgian, and Dutch football clubs including Hvidivre IF, Kjøbenhavns Boldklub and Lyngby Boldklub in Denmark, Club Brugge and K.V. Oostende in Belgium, and FC Twente Enschede and De Graafschap Doetinchem in the Netherlands from 1968 to 1984. He first played for the Danish sports club Skovshoved IF with whom he made 16 League appearances and had 5 League goals from 1968 to 1972. He then played for Hvidovre IF from 1973 to 1974, Club Brugge from 1974 to 1975, FC Twente Enschede from 1975 to 1976, De Graaschap Doetinchem from 1976 to 1977, Lokeren in 1977, K.V. Oostende from 1977 to 1979, Hvidore IF in 1979, KB Kobenhaven from 1980 to 1982, Lyngby BK in 1983, and Hellerup IK from 1983 to 1984. He also played in three A-national game matches for the Danish Football Team from 1973 to 1974. He was twice named a top scorer in the Danish 1. Division (then the highest row) first during a game with Hvidivre IF in which he scored 28 goals winning the football club's second Danish championship in 1973, and again when he played for KB Kobenhaven where he scored 19 goals during a game in 1980. He was also named Footballer of the Year in Denmark in 1973. His total record includes 190 Matches, 90 Goals, and 94 ranks. He retired following the 1984 season. He passed away in his native Copenhagen, Denmark, on January 8, 2018, at the age of 69, and he was buried in Assistens Cemetery in Copenhagen, Denmark, where several other famous Danish personalities are also laid to rest. His son Kim Aabech is also a professional footballer playing with Hvidovre IF since 2017.
