Vince was born on May 28, 1931, the son of Lawrence and Grace (Malanaphy) Sutton in Decorah, IA. He attended country schools and Decorah High School, graduating in 1951.
Vince served in the US Marine Corp from Dec. 1951 to Dec. 1953, and then returned home to the family farm.
On September 17, 1955, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Funke, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. They made their home of fifty-seven years northwest of Decorah where they had and raised their four children.
Throughout his life, Vince farmed, was a general contractor building livestock buildings and grain storage and handling systems.
Vince enjoyed telling jokes, visiting with friends and spending time with his family. Vince was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Vince is survived by his wife: Barbara Sutton, Decorah, IA. Four children: Maxine (Mark) Johnson, Naperville, IL; Susan (Dan) Gallo, Eagan, MN; David (Suzanne) Sutton, Decorah, IA; and Jerry Sutton, Decorah, IA. Ten grandchildren: Kelley (Derek) Slovak, Ryan Johnson, Vinnie Gallo, Tanna Gallo, Megen (Jason) Clark, Adam Sutton, Ethan (Tiffany) Sutton, Sam (Jessie) Drenth, Joe Sutton, Ruth Ann Sutton. Two great grandchildren: Nathan Sutton and Carson Clark. One brother: Mark Sutton, Decorah, IA. One sister: Imelda (Emmet) Nesteby, Lansing, IA.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence and Grace Sutton. Father and mother-in-law: Herman and Rose Funke. Sisters and brothers-in-law: James Alberts Marion (Dean) Soule and Marcella Sutton.
