Mr. O'Donnell had served as chairman of the English department at Manual Training High School in Brooklyn and principal of its annex. He also had been principal of the Bay Ridge Evening High School.
He received his A.B. degree from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, and an M.A. degree from New York University. He joined the city school system in 1902.
Surviving besides the general are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Arnold and Mrs. Vera Paradine; a sister, Miss Mayme O'Donnell, and six grandsons.
The Solemn Requiem Mass was offered Saturday in Our Lady of Angels Church, Brooklyn.
