Politician. Fernando Elías Calles Álvarez held various positions in the Ministry of Public Education and in the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), in addition to having been Undersecretary of the Interior, director of the National College of Professional Technical Education (Conalep) (1982-1983) and general director of the National Commission for Free Textbooks (Conaliteg) (1991-1994). He was son of Alfredo Elías Calles Chacón and grandson of President of Mexico Plutarco Elías Calles.
