Bertha Arvilla Fluckey was born on Feb. 27, 1881 to George Washington & Edith Ann Bennett Fluckey on their farm west of Tower Hill, Il. She was the youngest of nine children. On Aug 22, 1900 in Tower Hill, she married (1)Charles Edmund Inman and to this union were born two children: Irene in 1901 and Arthur in 1903. Charles died in 1904 at the young age of 27. In 1908, Bertha married (2)John Cameron Pitzer, a widower with three children: Earl, Loyd & Lola. Another child was added on June 3, 1909 when Edith Cornelia Pitzer was born. John Pitzer died in 1922, and Bertha married a third time in 1939 to (3)Jacob William McClean, a Neoga, IL veterinarian. She lived in Neoga until after Dr. McClean's death in Sept 1943. She lived several years in Hobart, Indiana at daughter Edith Pitzer Lane's home, and in 1961, came to live in Windsor,IL with daughter, Irene Inman Jones. She died March 9, 1969 at age eighty-eight and was buried in the Tower Hill Cemetery next to her first husband.
