Hugh Clark Davidson, Jr, M.D., 93, former president of the New York County Medical Society, died August 19, 2017, after a long illness. Dr. Davidson was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, the internationally-acclaimed Metropolitan opera star Nell Rankin, and by his parents Hugh Clark Davidson and Lucille Hornady Davidson. All were natives of Montgomery, Alabama. Dr. Davidson graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He practiced internal medicine in Manhattan for more than 30 years before his retirement some years ago. He was affiliated with Bellevue Hospital, The New York Hospital, and St. Luke's Hospital. For many years, he was senior attending physician at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital Center. His medical expertise and compassionate care drew well-known patients from across the country and abroad. An Air Force veteran, he served from 195153 during the Korean conflict. Dr. Davidson is survived by loving cousins and devoted New York friends.
