Sherwood, Virginia S. (nee Sottman), age 85, born and raised in Chicago, She resided in Mokena for 25 years, and moved to Englewood, FL. in 1980, where she lived until relocating to Joliet in 2003. She was the granddaughter of Adrian "Cap" Anson, a baseball Hall of Famer for the Chicago Cubs. Member of the Ladies of the Moose in Englewood, FL., beloved mother of Darryl (Josie) Sherwood, Carol (Mike) Olenick, Sandy (Billy) Austin, Candy Sherwood, and Randy Sherwood, fond grandmother of 14 and great grandmother of 11, her best friend Barb Cortino, also survives. Preceded in death by her mother Virginia A. (Anson) Shanvall, and her longtime companion of 30 years, Tom Duffy. Visitation Wednesday, March 23, 2005, from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 6 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Effington), Joliet. Interment private. Age 85. Passed away Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born and raised in Chicago. She resided in Mokena for 25 years, and moved to Englewood, Florida in 1980 where she lived until relocating to Joliet in November of 2003. She was the granddaughter of Adrian "Cap" Anson, a baseball Hall of Famer for the Chicago Cubs. Member of the Ladies of the Moose in Englewood, FL.

Preceded in death by her mother, Virginia A. (nee Anson) Shanvall; and her long time companion of 30 years, Tom Duffy.

Beloved mother of Darryl (Josie) Sherwood, Carol (Mike) Olenick, Sandy (Billy) Austin, Candy Sherwood and Randy Sherwood; fond grandmother of 14; and great grandmother of 11; her best friend, Barb Cortino also survived.

Funeral services for Virginia S. Sherwood will be Wednesday, March 23, 2005, 6 PM at the funeral home chapel. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 2-6 PM at: Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds.
