President of the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce for 10 years, Dysart named a committee of executives & engineers to study the smoke pollution problem, collect data & recommend possible solutions--this was one of the Chamber's most important achievements. Dysart initiated a census of area manufacturers, which resulted in many multi-million dollar contracts being awarded to St. Louis businesses. He was killed, (along with the mayor of St. Louis & the Robertson brothers, founders of Robertson Aircraft Corporation) when a troop-carrying glider crashed during a demonstration at Lambert Field.
