Spouse of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. She was the third wife of Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia. Born of Hadhrami-Malay descent, her ancestors had migrated from Hadhramaut to Kedah for several generations. In 1939, she married Abdul Rahman when he returned to Kedah from England upon hearing the news that World War II was about to erupt in Europe. They had no biological children together but adopted three children. She received the Grand Commander of the Order of the Defender of the Realm (SMN) in 1970, which carries the title of Tun. She died of pneumonia in 2000.
