Rita was born in Fall River and was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late Charles C. Courtis and Victoria (Collard) Courtis and the step daughter of the late Mary (Collard) Bouchard-Courtis.
Rita was a clerical worker for Hoffman Lion Mills, a subsidiary of Small Brothers Manufacturing, then worked in the accounting department of Pacific Oil Co., and more recently was a bookkeeper for the Jobs, Inc. department of the Office of Economic Development at the Fall River Government Center, retiring in 1986.
She was a 1939 graduate of Dominican Academy High School and a member of the Children of Mary of St. Anne Parish.
Her funeral was held from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main Street, Fall River. Interment at Notre Dame Cemetery.
