American television writer, producer and actor. He is best remembered as the creator of the CBS series, Hawaii Five-O in 1968. He was married to actress Rose Taylor from 1953-1974. Freeman died in 1974 during the sixth season of Hawaii Five-O from complications of heart surgery.

He was an actor from 1951-1955, a writer from 1952-1974, and a producer from 1961-1974. He and Rose had three daughters.
