Hershel Warren Grant, 93, of Taylorsville passed away on May 20, 2014 at his residence. Born January 16, 1921 in Macon County, NC, he was the son of the late William Leander Grant and Mary Elizabeth Simonds Grant. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He loved his family, loved to fish, work on cars, camping and playing guitars. Hershel was self-employed and owned Grant’s Jewelry Mfg. and was quite a craftsman. Hershel designed jewelry for Stevie Wonder, The Statler Brothers and Johnny Cash, just to name a few. Hershel was indeed an artist with a craft that has become a thing of the past.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marshal, Odel, Wade, Olsen, Vernal, Edward and Burlas Grant; and sisters, Eulean Carpenter and Doris Pierce.

Hershel is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jacqueline Shook Grant; daughter, Joy S. Huffman and husband Robert of Bethlehem; sons, Rick Grant and wife Angela of Maynardville, TN, Chad Grant and wife Lhen of Rowlett, TX and Scott Grant of Six Mile, SC, Michael Stewart and wife Patricia of Kernersville, and Steven Stewart of Kernersville; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Aubrey Rhinehardt and husband Paul of Cherryville and Norma Jean Howell of Tennessee.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Cavenaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
