Brother of Terry Wilkerson and Teresa Wilkerson Green
Life partner of Kent Hamson.
Stepson of Hank Warren.
Grandson of Junell Stanfield

Gary was a computer technician and a member of Holy Trinity Community Church for which he designed, constructed and operated the media system. He spent most of his adult life caring for and fighting for the rights of AIDS/HIV patients, volunteered for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and was a Wish Granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
He was active in the Memphis GLBT community with Friends For Life and other organizations, primarily with Mid-South Pride of which he was one of the founders and first president. His lasting achievement was to ensure that Pride celebrations would continue after Memphis Pride, Inc., ceased to exist after 10 years. He also created and maintained links with Pride organizations throughout the nation and internationally. He was highly respected by Pride organizations all over the world and was instrumental in bringing a 100-foot section of the Sea to Sea rainbow flag to Memphis for use at Pride events.
He was known for his determination, faith and belief that virtually anything could be accomplished with the right amount of work and resoluteness. His strong personality, honesty and sincerity were noted with affection by his many friends.
