Ocala - Richard Van Etten, age 85, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2007 at his home.
He came to the Oak Run Community from Las Vegas, Nevada 16 years ago.
He was born in Greenland, New Hampshire and raised in a military family.
He was graduated from Portsmouth High School and entered the military shortly after graduation and retired from the United States Air Force.
After his military service, Richard worked for the Civil Service as a photographer for the Missile and Asronaut Programs.
While at Oak Run, Richard was a charter member of the Royal Oaks Golf Club. He had to leave the golf club due to health problems.
Richard is survived by his wife, Gerry Van Etten, Ocala, Florida; daughter, Vicky (Ralph) Juliano, Ocala, Florida; daughter, Diane Harper, residing in Newberryport Massachusetts; a son, Thomas Stewart of Elgin, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Per his request, there will be no formal services.

Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
