Jean Marie Missed was born in nice France on April 25, 1852 son of Joseph and Augustine Baerlli missed at an early age he showed an aptitude for music so young that it was concerned an impossibility at age 13 he was sent to municipal music conservation in France and played under George testa bandmaster to the prince of Monaco in 1869 at only 17 he enlisted in the united states navy onboard the USS sabine which he was the nice and later arrived in Charlestown in 1870 his naval career lasted only as long as the cruise arrived in Boston a stranger in the strange land unacquainted even with the language he was discouraged and wanted to go back to France however his brother encouraged him to remain here yielding to his emotion he turned to music after a while missed started his own quintet and also a player for a time with the legendary harry brown brigade band eventually he landed a spot in the Salem brass band which had been organized in Salem in 1837 for the Salem light infantry and had achieved national prominence in the 1850s in 1878 missud left the salem brass band to organize a slimilar unit fore the slam light iftary rivals the second cords caddets he would led his salem caddet band for the next 36 yeers setting a natinal record fore band longvity. a month before his death Mr misused paid a high honor by tufts college he was given an honorary degree of master of arts at a special ceremony during comment week. tufts president Lenard Carmichael afford to 50 years prior when the same cadet band first appeared at tuft college commencement and since that tin unbroken succession had proved music at the college every June. missed died in Marblehead at age 89 on July 18 1941 living his children j.
