Major Donald Aylmer MacKay was a distinguished officer with The Canadian Grenadier Gaurds who served as acting Commanding Officer (CO) of the 23rd Battalion CEF before being transferred to the 60th Battalion (VRC) and 87th Battalion (Canadian Grenadier Guards). He held many command positions during the war however dealt with cronic health issues that kept him hopitalized most of his time overseas. Commemorated on Page 551 of the Canadian First World War Book of Remembrance.
