Sister of Charles-Auguste de Lotbinière Harwood 1869-1954
Married 1890 within 7 years, Marie gave birth to three children: Flora in 1891, Gertrude in 1895, and Harwood in 1897. In 1898, while Harwood was still a baby, Sam was sent to Lake Bennett, BC and Dawson City, Yukon, while Marie and the kids were left back in Fort Macleod. Numerous love letters are available in Archives. Marie eventually moved her three young children back east to Montréal, where she was able to be near her family. Throughout Sam's years of service, she moved her family around to be near him: South Africa during the Boer War and England during World War I. After Sam's death in 1919, Marie moved back to Canada, eventually settling again in Montréal, where she died in 1951.
Researching where she was laid to rest. Possibly be with family without stone.
Her father: Harwood died at his home in Vaudreuil, Quebec at the age of 70. His son, Charles-Auguste de Lotbiniere-Harwood (1869–1954) of Vaudreuil, married Marie-Adelaide Masson, granddaughter of Joseph Masson of Manoir Terrebonne, Quebec. His daughter, Marie-Elizabeth de Lotbiniere-Harwood (1859–1951), married Major-General Sir Sam Steele of Lord Strathcona's Horse.
