Prince Louis of Bourbon-Parma was the tenth of twelve children born to Robert I, Duke of Parma, and his second wife, Maria Antonia of Portugal. He was married at Rome on January 23, 1939 to Princess Maria Francesca of Savoy, daughter of Victor Emmanuel III, King of Italy, by whom he had four children.
