Sgt. Chenoweth of Plainview, Arkansas was a 1996 graduate of Northern Heights High School in Allen, Kansas. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1996 as a submariner and joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 2003 as a cannoneer in Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 206th Field Artillery. At the time of his death he served as a truck commander, performing convoy security escort. Mike had volunteered to serve a second year in Iraq with Charlie Battery of Arkansas' 142nd Fires Brigade. His first tour was in 2004-2005 with the 206th Field Artillery Battalion of Arkansas' 39th Infantry Brigade. He drowned while fishing the Petit Jean River during a visit home on leave from his second tour of duty in Iraq. He was 29.
