Mr. Paul Rictor Smith, 68, of lake City, Florida, expired Monday, August 4, 2008, in The Baptist Medical Center of Jacksonville, after an illness. He was born June 7, 1940, in Williamson, GA to the late Willie F. Smith and Martha S. McFarland.
He was married to Mrs. Altamease Carter Smith and to this union one child was born.
He was one of the first Black Greyhound Bus Drivers hired and he retired after 32 years loyal and dedicated service. He was an active member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church.
Survivors are: A loving and devoted wife, Altamease Smith. Five Sons: Paul smith Jr. (Anna), Ocala, Florida, Moshari Smith (Charyl), Kansas City, Missouri, Winston English Lawton, Oklahoma, James (Miresha), and Rictor Smith (Kim) of Lake City, Florida. A loving mother, Martha McFarland, One sister, Sharyl Gallons, of Tampa, Florida. One Uncle, M.C. His Mother-in-law, Blanch Carter, Eight brothers-in-law and eight sisters- in-law; ten grandchildren, special nieces, Daytona Scott, Takeasha Nance, Keyonn Nance, Special Nephews, Taurence Creary Sr., Taurence Creary Jr., and Eljawon Creary, and other nieces and nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7 P.M. Friday, August 8, 2008 at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at 11:00 A.M., at the Philadelphia Baptist Church, 8406 S.W. County Road 242, Lake City, Florida. Rev. I. L. Williams, Pastor/Teacher officiating.
