Peter Blatchford, 86, resident of Edmonton for the past 44 years and one of the best-known old-timers in northern Alberta, died Thursday after a long illness.

He was the father of the late Kenneth A. Blatchford, three times mayor of Edmonton, who died in 1933.

Mr. Blatchford was born in Lindsay, Ont. He moved to Edmonton in 1898 as a steam engineer.

He was a life member of the Northern Alberta Pioneers’ and Old-timers’ association and one of its oldest members, said J. A. McCool, secretary.
