Naval Aviator and businessman. He was born in Providence Hospital, Seattle, to George Peter Apostolou and Celia Ruth Apostolou. Julie was a man of diverse interests and skills: athlete, pilot, gourmet chef and cabinet grade carpenter. In his youth he starred for his high school football championship team at Queen Anne High School in Seattle, in the fall of 1945. Julie was an avid skier and an outstanding junior ski jumper, and an enthusiastic golfer and tennis player. Julie served during the Korean conflict as a naval aviator assigned to aircraft carrier duty. He served honorably for five years and was decorated for his service. Julie returned to the University of Washington following his military service and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, he was employed by National Cash Register. This was his introduction to the computer world. After several years at NCR, he joined the Palmer G. Lewis Co. and moved to Anchorage Alaska to manage their largest division. Following his productive years in Anchorage, he moved to Maui and the sunshine. Julie enjoyed his years in Maui where he managed the extensive Wailea Point condominium project. Julie returned home to Seattle and once again worked in the computer industry where he remained until his retirement. At that time he moved to Palm Desert, CA where he remained active with his numerous hobbies and continued his great interest in aviation as a docent at the Museum of Flight in Palm Desert. Julie was very proud of his family, his fraternity Phi Gamma Delta and his country. Julie is survived by his son Scott Julian Apostolou, daughter-in-law Christy Hale Apostolou, and granddaughter Katherine Hale Apostolou all of Palo Alto, CA; son Jeff David Apostolou of Brooklyn, NY; brother Peter G. Apostolou, sister-in-law Edith A. Apostolou; nephews and nieces George F. Apostolou, Cynthia M. Shantz, Aileen and Alex Shantz, Charles Fuqua, Steven Fuqua, Tonya Fuqua, grandniece Mia McKenna Fuqua, Zoie A. Steed and great grandniece Jordan Steed all of the Greater Seattle area. Julie was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Marria J. Fuqua. Special thanks go to his former wife Nancy Andrews for her care in managing his affairs in his later years, to his friend Duane Mitchell whose companionship added so much to his daily life, and to the many caregivers that assisted him during his battle with dementia and Alzheimer's. A memorial service was held at the Broadmore Golf Club, Seattle, on May 15, 2009.
