Major Oliver Barker D'Arcy. Son of Edward and Ellen D'Arcy. Husband of Angelica Martha D'Arcy. They had 9 children. An Army officer who served with 73rd Regiment, 65th Regiment, and 18th Regiment. Appointed Ensign 8 Apr 1926, promoted to Lieutenant 9 Dec 1831, to Captain 19 Dec 1845 and to Major 30 Sep 1856. He served in New Zealand with the 65th Regiment as garrison troops between 1847 and 1858 following the Maori Wars 1845-1847. Was resident in Wellington in 1858. Resigned from the Army and moved his family to King William's town in the Cape Colony, South Africa in about 1859 and was appointed a Major in Cape Mounted Rifles in 1860. Father of Captain Henry Cecil Dudgeon D'Arcy (1850-1881) who was awarded the Victoria Cross on 3 July 1879 for his actions during the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879. Died aged 61 years.
