He was born Feb. 8, 1906, in Fairmont, son of the late James and Viola Cunningham Radcliff.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Barrackville, having served as an elder of the church. He served two years in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He was a coal miner, retiring from Eastern Gas and Fuel, Grant Town Mine. He had 44 years of service. He was active in baseball, tennis and swimming during his earlier years. He also sang live on WMMN Radio with quartet groups in the Fairmont area.
He is survived by his wife, Rose M. Radcliff, with whom he celebrated his 70th anniversary on July 18; a son and spouse, Ron and Judy Radcliff, of Rivesville; a brother, Joseph T. Radcliff, of Cross Lanes; a sister, Edith Kann, of Fairmont; and two grandchildren and a spouse, Ron Radcliff Jr., of Arlington, Va., and Michelle and Ricky Douglas, of St. Albans.
He was also preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, and from noon until the 2 p.m. service Sunday, July 29, with Evangelist Steve Snider officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Morgantown.
