Gaines Eugene Hampton

Gaines Eugene Hampton, 91 of Berryville, Arkansas was the oldest son of Gaines Edwin and Jeanette Knight Hampton. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 8, 2020, passing from this life at the home he shared with his wife of 70 years Paula June Hampton.

He held a variety of jobs in California, Oregon, Illinois, and Arkansas. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas he most enjoyed his work at the Berryville, Machine Shop for over 42 years, working with metal and using his skills at welding to create numerous creative designs for professional and personal projects from walnut hullers to large commercial projects. Gaines delighted generations of his family with reciting his alphabet backwards, and his loving humor and kindness to all.

Gaines is survived by his wife Paula; brother Robert Hampton and wife Vernadette of California; brothers-in-law James Willard Carr Jr. and wife Clarise of Berryville, Lewis Morris of Alpena; sister-in-law Laura Welch of Green Forest.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Juanita Martin of California, Betty Dean Bales of Salem, Oregon; brothers Paul Edwin Hampton of California, Preston Hampton of Texas; numerous other family members.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
