SHREWSBURY- Eleanor K. (Gurgzdis) Babin, 89, formerly of Shrewsbury, died Monday, January 15th in the Radius Healthcare Center in Millbury after an illness.
Her husband of 52 years, Stanley Babin, died in 1994. She leaves a sister, Antoinette Ervin of Millbury; two daughters, Sandra Brown and her husband, Richard of North Easton, Nancy Kovar and her husband, Robert of Wrentham, her son, William Babin and his wife, Joanne of Sutton; six grandchildren, Brian, Daniel, and Michelle Babin, Christopher, Michael, and Katelyn Brown, and three great grandchildren.
Eleanor was born in Sutton, daughter of the late Anthony and Katherine (Nortonis) Gurgzdis and moved to Shrewsbury in 1955. She graduated from Becker College and was a Bookkeeper at Package Builders Inc. in Sutton for 32 years, retiring at the age of 82.
She was a member of Saint Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury and was an avid flower gardener. Eleanor was a mother who devoted her life to ensuring happiness for her children and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Eleanor' s family on Friday, January 19th from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St. Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20th at 10 AM in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
