Thomas J Cummins was born on March 4, 1881 in Wilson County, Tennessee, the son of Annie (Gann) (Cummins) Watts (1853–1931) and her 1st husband Durham Cummins.

He was married on August 23, 1903 in Rutherford County, Tennessee as the 2nd husband of Amanda Elizabeth "Manda" (Sain) Brown (1873–1967), the daughter of Hiram Boone "H B" Sain (1849–1928) and his wife Sarah Emoline (Qualls) Sain (1849–1931).

A retired millwright and lathe worker for a handle factory and living at 1017 Garfield Street in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, Thomas was a member of the Church of Christ. He was 75 years old and married when he had a stroke and died at Nashville General Hospital on April 2, 1956.

Survivors included his widow Mrs Amanda Cummins, stepson Herman T Brown in Detroit, Michigan, adopted son Grady Dycus of California, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on April 4th at Buena Vista Funeral Home, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison {city, not county}.
