Robert was drafted into the US Army 14 February 1968.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 19 July 1968, Robert was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Calvary, 1st Calvary Division, USARV.
Robert was traveling as a passenger aboard a CH-47A, when it collided in mid-air with a C-7A #63-9753 in the vicinity of Camp Evans and 4 kilometers south southeast of Phong Dien. Robert died as a result of injuries to the body when the CH-47A crashed. A total of 24 servicemen were aboard.
Survived by his mother and stepfather, Caroline L and Earl William Mudget of 443 Castro Street, San Leandro, California and his father; Henry D Tomlinson of 7779 Peppertree Drive, Dublin, California.
