Beloved wife of writer Rod Serling. In the late 1940s, Carolyn Louise "Carol" Kramer, a student at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, would meet her future husband, fellow student Rodman "Rod" Edward Serling. At first, she refused to date him because of his campus reputation as a "ladies' man", but she eventually changed her mind. While in college, after a courtship Rod joined the Unitarian church, which allowed him to marry Carol on July 31, 1948. The union produced two daughters, Jodi (born 1950), and Anne (born 1955).

Carol Serling's maternal grandmother, Louise Taft Orton Caldwell had a summer home on Cayuga Lake in Interlaken, New York, which was the newlyweds' honeymoon destination. The Serling family continued to use this house annually throughout Rod's life, until his untimely death in 1975, missing only two summers in the early years of their blessed marriage.

Though Rod Serling died in 1975, at the young age of 50, for the rest of her life, Carol would uphold the lasting legacy of her beloved husband, until her own death on January 9, 2020, at age 90.
