HARRY M. LUTGENS

San Rafael - Funeral services will be held tomorrow for Harry M. Lutgens, 75, publisher and editor of the Western Banker, former owner of the San Rafael Independent, and Secretary of the late Gov. Friend W. Richardson.

Mr. Lutgens died last night after collapsing with a heart attack while returning home from his magazine office in San Francisco. His son-in-law, Thomas Gannon Jr. assistant publisher, was accompanying him.

Mr. Lutgens first bought the Sonoma Valley Forum in 1916, later published the weekly Sebastopol Times and worked on the old San Francisco Journal. His state offices included membership on the State Personnel Board and Board of Control, and during World War II he was a lieutenant colonel in the Army, serving as public relations officer in WA.

He was a director of the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District, past president of the Redwood Empire Assoc. and Marin Humane Society, a bank director here and member of Marin Lodge 191, F & A.M.

Survivors include his widow, Helen, 2 daughters, Mrs. Gannon of San Rafael and Mrs. David Nurse of MI; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Keaton's Mortuary, 1022 E St.
