BURNS, E. Raymond “Grinny” – age 80 of Middleton, passed away on
Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Nictaux South on Varner Mountain Road, he was a son of the late Ellis and Marie (Reese) Burns. Raymond was a retired auto body mechanic. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Nictaux Fire Department for fourteen years. Raymond enjoyed square dancing for 50 years, playing cards and was an avid hunter and fishermen. Raymond will be sadly missed by his wife of sixty plus years, Beverly (Ward); daughter Vickielynn (Patrick) Cole, Bayard Road; sons David (Elizabeth), Nictaux South; Darrell, NB; Alan (Cindy), South Farmington; sister, Louise McLaughlin, Jarvis, ON; sister-in-law Lorraine Burns, Hamilton, ON; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by grandson Joshua; great grandson Alexander; sister Doris Burns; brother Lorimer; half-sister Mildred; half-brother Allison; and 8 brothers and sisters in infancy. In keeping with Grinny’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Saturday, July 8, 2017 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 from where a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 9th with Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service at the Nictaux Fire Hall. Donations in memory may be made to the Nictaux & District Volunteer Fire Department.
