Mrs. Artis was the daughter of the late Reverend Isaac Shepard Riddick, Sr. and the late Chauncie Agnes Armston Riddick.
She was married to the late Reverend Amos Artis, Sr. She was preceded in death by four siblings; Chauncie Alice Riddick, Mary Cross, Izetta Anthony, and Isaac Shepard Riddick, Jr., two step-daughters; Hilda Morse and Thelma Brown, and a grandson; Edgar Morse, Jr.
Mrs. Artis was involved Nationally and Regionally in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of North Carolina, the United States & Canada. She served as First Lady alongside her husband at Saint James Christian Church (DOC) of Fountain, NC, now located in Wilson, NC and at Saint Andrews Christian Church (DOC) of Dudley, NC. She was a faithful member of both Saint James Christian Church of Wilson and Agape Christian Church of Hubert, serving as an Elder.
She leaves to cherish her memories to, three daughters; Dr. Yvonne (Rev. Dr. Charles) Barnes of the home, Reverend R. Lois Artis of Silver Springs, MD, and Reverend Lyola "Tink" (Milton) Horne of Hubert, NC; a son, Amos (Brenda) Artis, Jr. of Goldsboro, NC. Two sisters; Donna Vaughan and Elzatie Watson both of Hobgood, NC and a brother; James Riddick of Hubert, NC. Twelve grandchildren; James (Yasmine) Morse of Dudley, NC, US Army Captain Michael (Taco) Barnes, Sr. of Bowie, MD, NC Senator Don (Yuvonka) Davis of Greenville, NC, Tiffani Alwazan of Chicago, IL, Charlie Barnes of Wilson, NC, Aisha Artis, Shani Artis, and Ebony Paniagua-Herrera all of Baltimore, MD, Cheresa (Marquez) Smith of Wilson, NC, Amos "Trey" Artis, III of Seattle, WA, Joshua Artis of Miami, FL, and Daniel Holcombe of Wake Forest, NC. Eleven great grandchildren; Teko (Khary) Campbell of Leesburg, VA, Bjorn Morse of Charlotte, NC, Pax Morse of Dudley, NC, Catelyn, Michael C., and Jayden Barnes all of Bowie, MD, Ryan Warren, Justin and Kyler Davis all of Greenville, NC, Adrian Artis of Seattle, WA, and Garvey Campbell of Baltimore, MD.
