Emira Eagle Bryant, the firstborn child of the late Daisy Taylor Eagle and the late Napoleon Eagle, was born in Warrenton, Georgia on August 26, 1939. The family moved to Augusta, Georgia, when she was very young. Mrs. Bryant was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church. After returning from college, she joined Beulah Grove Baptist Church to worship with her family. Mrs. Bryant was an active member of Beulah Grove. She worked with Vacation Bible School for many years. She assisted with purchasing flowers for the sanctuary for the 1st Sunday worship services. She was also a member of the Willie Mae Howard Missionary Circle (formerly, the Business and Professional Missionary Circle), for which she served as chairperson for several years. Mrs. Bryant received her early education at Charles T. Walker Elementary School. She graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School in 1958 and Albany State College in 1965. She was a first-generation college graduate. Mrs. Bryant was employed by the Richmond County School System (RCSS). Mrs. Bryant taught at W.S. Hornsby Elementary School for thirty years. During her tenure, she taught second, third, sixth, and seventh grades. She also had the opportunity to teach computer-assisted courses and Title I mathematics. Later in life, she was introduced to her husband, Leroy Bryant Sr., and they were married in 2001. They enjoyed retirement - taking family trips, visiting family and friends, traveling to new places, and bird watching from their kitchen window. Mrs. Bryant was an amazing and beloved wife, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, godmother, stepmother, friend, and teacher. Throughout her life’s journey, she lovingly and generously touched the lives of many. She loved cooking and sharing her culinary creations with family and friends.
